Best padel rackets for intermediate players
The rackets Palafit's quiz picks for intermediate players who attack from the left or defend from the right, each with the reason, from published specs.
Published
By the intermediate stage, most players know how they win points. Attackers want a racket that finishes overheads; defenders want one that keeps the ball in play. These are the rackets Palafit's quiz picks for each, with the reasons it gives. Nobody play-tested them: the picks come from each racket's published specs, and the same answers always give the same picks.
How these were picked
We answered the quiz as an intermediate player who owns a racket (without naming it), usually returns a ball off the back glass, has no arm discomfort and a budget of €150–220. Then we gave two styles of play their own answers, below.
Each list has the quiz's three roles: the best match, a step up that pushes further on what matters most for this player, and a wildcard with a different shape or brand, or a best value pick when one fits almost as well for clearly less money. The picks are from 6 October 2026; each list links to the quiz's live results, which follow the catalog as it grows.
If you attack from the left
Our answers: on the left side, smashes a high ball at the net, and loses points when the smash doesn't finish them.
- Nox Pro Cup HARD 2027, best match
Teardrop, 360–375 g.
Close to your profile on every score, with no extreme. The maker doesn't publish its balance and core feel, so some scores are estimates. - Head Speed Pro 2025, step up
Teardrop, 370 g, medium balance, medium core.
Heavier build: powerful. Teardrop shape: forgiving. Pushes further on power than #1. - Nox AT10 Pro Cup SOFT 2026, best value
Teardrop, 360–375 g, soft core.
Teardrop shape and soft core: forgiving. The maker doesn't publish its balance, so some scores are estimates.
All three are teardrops: more power than a round racket, more control than a diamond. With a budget of €100–150, the Nox AT10 Pro Cup SOFT becomes the best match, the Head Speed Pro stays the step up, and the round Adidas Drive 2026 is the wildcard. See them in the quiz.
If you defend from the right
Our answers: on the right side, plays a bandeja from a high ball at the net, and loses points when the ball goes long.
- Bullpadel Ionic Control 2026, best match
Round, 365–375 g, low balance, medium core.
Low balance and round shape: precise. Low balance and round shape: quick in the hands. - Head Gravity Pro 2024, step up
Round, 365 g, low balance, medium core.
Low balance and round shape: precise. Low balance: easy on the arm. - Head Radical Team 2026, wildcard
Teardrop, 365 g, low balance, medium core.
Low balance and teardrop shape: precise. Low balance and teardrop shape: quick in the hands.
All three have a low balance, which is most of what makes a racket easy to control. The picks are the same with a budget of €100–150.
Moving up from your first racket
- Change one thing at a time. A teardrop instead of a round, or a medium balance instead of a low one, keeps the new racket familiar.
- Tell the quiz which racket you have. It then compares each pick with yours: "more power than your racket, same weight".
- Power or control? Shape, weight and balance decide most of it. See round vs teardrop vs diamond and weight and balance explained.
Take the quiz with your own answers to get three rackets for you, each with the reason it fits.
